Just saw this in the New York Times: http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/12/26/travel/escapes/26ski.html

It would be great if this new binding design, which releases laterally at the heel at well as the toe, actually helps prevent some ACL injuries. Anybody have any personal experience with this yet? The article says they are just now reaching some ski shops but are also available online. Pricey at over $400, but cheap if they prevent a ligament tear!
